Geddy Lee to Perform with YES During Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Geddy Lee to Perform with YES During Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction CeremonyUpdate: It now appears that the story Billboard ran was incorrect. According to Rush's management, Geddy Lee will NOT be performing with Yes during the ceremony. A retraction has been posted by Billboard stating:
UPDATE: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation sent a statement to Billboard after this story was published denying that Lee would perform at the ceremony. "Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson were only confirmed to do the induction speech for one of their favorite bands and not perform. They, like all the other Yes fans, look forward to honoring them and watching them perform at the induction ceremony on April 7 and the HBO broadcast on April 29."

It was January when we first broke the news that both Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson would have the honor of introducing the band Yes during next month's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Since that time, Rush fans have been speculating whether or not Geddy and/or Alex would join the band for a song or two.

We now seem to have an answer, or at least a partial one. According to a new article just posted at Billboard, Geddy Lee will perform at least one song during the ceremony. From Billboard:
Yes inductor Geddy Lee of Rush will be taking the late Chris Squire's place for "Roundabout," according to Anderson, and the group is also contemplating playing "I've Seen All Good People" and "Owner Of A Lonely Heart." Squire, the sole musician to remain with Yes until his death in 2015, will be represented by his widow. "Chris is going to be there in spirit," Anderson says. "He always believed that we should have been in the Hall of Fame 10, 29 years ago. It wasn't high on my agenda; 'It happens when it happens' was my mantra. But we know Chris will be there in spirit, in energy. I loved the guy very much. Without him I wouldn't be here, that's for sure.
No mention of Alex performing in the article, but given that the ceremony usually ends with an all-star jam session, it's likely that he will participate in some fashion.

The induction ceremony will take place on April 7th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. While there will not be any (official) live streaming of the event, it will appear on HBO later in the month.

Thanks to Jennifer Cox McCarthy for the news.
