The time is now again...
Update: During intermission, at least one of Geddy's new songs was played. Geddy also took a selfie with the audience, and (somehow) the photo will be sent to everyone in attendance.
Update: It appears that Paul Rudd will be slappin da bass with Geddy as tonight's host!
Update: A photo gallery for opening night photos will be uploaded live at this LOCATION. Dozens are already online!
At long last, Geddy Lee's My Effin' Life In Conversation Tour opens tonight at the Beacon Theater in New York City. The excitement among the Rush community has been building for quite some time; even more so in the past week. Not surprisingly, Geddy has been hitting the interview trail ahead of the tour and the release of My Effin' Life on Tuesday, November 14th. Among several interviews, including the recent article This Is Who I Am from the upcoming December issue of Classic Rock magazine, Geddy has indicated that he will be releasing two NEW songs.
From the article:
Recently I found a couple of tracks that were written for my solo album [My Favourite Headache, released in 2000]. My co-writer for that record, Ben Mink, discovered these demos, and when I listened to them I was not embarrassed at all, which was a good sign. I thought maybe if I could clean up these demos a little bit we could add them to the audio book of My Effin’ Life, and they would make for interesting listening as, you know, historic relics. And while working on these tracks it was really interesting the way they made me feel. It made me want to write again. It made me want to get back on the horse, so to speak. So I think that bodes well for the future.
It will be interesting to see (hear) if Geddy premieres these songs during the In Conversation tour.
We'll have news, photos, information on the interviewer, and more throughout the evening (and throughout the tour).
