Rush Announces "Fifty Something" Tour Proceeds Will Support Neil Peart Memorial

Image
In a moving tribute to their late bandmate, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson have announced that a portion of the proceeds from Rush’s upcoming "Fifty Something" tour will be donated to the Neil Peart Memorial fund. The tour, which celebrates the band’s half-century legacy, serves as a dual celebration of their music and the enduring impact of their legendary drummer and primary lyricist. The funds will directly support the ambitious commemorative project in Peart’s hometown of St. Catharines, Ontario, specifically at Lakeside Park, the site that inspired one of the band’s most beloved songs. About the Memorial Project Following Peart’s passing on January 7, 2020, the St. Catharines City Council and the community moved quickly to honor his memory. The project has evolved into a multi-phase tribute: The Neil Peart Pavilion: In 2020, the city officially renamed the newly rebuilt pavilion at Lakeside Park in his honor. Larger-Than-Life Sculptures: The Neil Peart Commemorative...

Geddy Lee Hints at New Rush Music Following 2026 Reunion Tour

Image
Rush fans celebrating the band’s return to the stage might have even more to look forward to in the future. Geddy Lee has revealed that once the dust settles on their upcoming "Fifty Something" reunion tour, there is a strong possibility that he and Alex Lifeson will head back to the studio to record new material. While the band’s immediate focus is entirely on preparing for their expanded 17-city tour, Lee admits that the creative spark had already been ignited before rehearsals took over. "My intent, before we got into this celebration of Rush's history, was to put some music together," Lee explained. "Now, I assumed I would be doing that on my own, not with Alex, but when we started jamming, I started seeing the possibility of doing something with Alex." Those plans are currently on hold as the duo, alongside drummer Anika Nilles, work to relearn nearly 40 songs for the shows launching in June 2026. However, Lee remains optimistic about what co...

Rush Celebrates Grace Under Pressure with Definitive Super Deluxe Box Sets

Image
At long last, Rush have finally announced the upcoming box set release of the band’s tenth studio album, “Grace Under Pressure.” To honor this landmark 1984 release, two massive Super Deluxe Editions will be released this March, available as a 5LP + Blu-ray or 4CD + Blu-ray configuration, exclusively through the Rush Backstage official store. Originally released on April 12, 1984, Grace Under Pressure was a pivotal moment in the Rush canon. Recorded at the legendary Le Studio in Quebec with producer Peter Henderson, the album captured the band navigating a shifting musical landscape of synthesizers and electronic percussion against a backdrop of Cold War anxiety. A Return of the "Broon" : In a historic move, this 40th-anniversary edition features a brand-new 2024 stereo mix of the entire album by the band’s longtime producer, Terry Brown. Although Brown did not produce the original 1984 sessions, he was invited by Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson to bring a fresh perspect...

After all, where better to warm up for a concert than a private party with a bunch of other Rush fans? Space is limited. If the stars align, look for Cygnus-X1....

Neil Peart: The Echo That Time Cannot Silence

Image
Six years have passed since Neil Peart left this world, yet his presence feels anything but distant. Time has moved forward, but his rhythms still echo - precise, restless, searching - like a compass that continues to point toward something higher. Neil was never just a drummer. He was a thinker behind the kit, a traveler with a pen, a quiet observer who turned curiosity into meaning. His playing combined intellect and instinct, discipline and fire. Every fill felt intentional, every silence earned. Through Rush, he gave sound to big ideas: free will, loss, wonder, resilience, the dignity of the individual. He trusted his audience to think, to feel deeply, to meet him where the questions were harder than the answers. What makes his absence linger is not only the mastery, but the humility. Neil resisted the spotlight even as he redefined what was possible within it. He evolved constantly - studying, refining, beginning again - reminding us that excellence is not a destination but a ...
