Geddy Lee Hints at New Rush Music Following 2026 Reunion Tour
Rush fans celebrating the band’s return to the stage might have even more to look forward to in the future. Geddy Lee has revealed that once the dust settles on their upcoming "Fifty Something" reunion tour, there is a strong possibility that he and Alex Lifeson will head back to the studio to record new material.
While the band’s immediate focus is entirely on preparing for their expanded 17-city tour, Lee admits that the creative spark had already been ignited before rehearsals took over. "My intent, before we got into this celebration of Rush's history, was to put some music together," Lee explained. "Now, I assumed I would be doing that on my own, not with Alex, but when we started jamming, I started seeing the possibility of doing something with Alex."
Those plans are currently on hold as the duo, alongside drummer Anika Nilles, work to relearn nearly 40 songs for the shows launching in June 2026. However, Lee remains optimistic about what comes next, noting, "If we manage to survive the tour, and go back to Canada and have a rest, who knows what'll happen, but I suspect some music will eventually come out."
Lee also expressed excitement about potentially bringing Nilles, who is filling the role of the late Neil Peart for the live shows, into the songwriting fold. "It would be fun to see what she can do in a creative situation," Lee noted, joking, "Yeah, especially if Anika can still stand us!" Until then, fans can occupy themselves with the tour and the upcoming Super Deluxe reissue of Grace Under Pressure arriving this March.
